The Biggest Secret of Successful Weight Loss

When it comes to weight loss, the biggest hurdle that people face is that of getting started. They just don’t have any idea of where to start from! If you are one of these people then this article is for you! It doesn’t really matter whether you want to lose ten or hundred pounds, the tips I am going to share with you in this article are going to help you anyway!

The first step to successful weight loss is to set some goals. Goals should be used in the same way as milestones are used on highways. Just as without any milestone, you will have no idea of where you are going, without a goal, you will have no idea of how much work you need to do to shed all the extra pounds!

First you should ask yourself some questions:

1. How much weight you want to lose?

2. By when you expect to lose all the weight?

Then write answers to these questions on a sheet of paper. Oh yeah, before I forget, let me tell you that writing your goals is one of the surefire ways of making sure that you never forget them! Write your weight loss goals on a piece of paper, make copies of that paper, and stick each paper on every place you can.

Make sure you don’t forget to stick this paper on your refrigerator and kitchen, since it is in these places that the demon called temptation tries to ruin your weight loss efforts!

Setting goals is just not enough; in order to make the goals achievable, you must set REALISTIC goals. If you have a goal of losing sixty pounds within a couple of weeks or a month, that is not going to happen. Setting such unrealistic goals for yourself will nullify the very effect of goal setting.

When you set unrealistic goals and fail to achieve the same, you will be disappointed and frustrated with yourself and your weight loss efforts.

10 tips for holiday travel

By Ed Hewitt
updated 3:11 p.m. ET Nov. 20, 2008

With the global economy in crisis and both travelers and airlines feeling the pinch, it may not seem like 2008 will be the cheeriest of holiday travel seasons. Airlines have cut flights, raised fares and added a surge of surcharges for everything from checked bags to phone bookings. Meanwhile, many travelers are postponing or canceling their holiday plans to save money.

But for travelers still planning to visit Grandma’s for Thanksgiving or spend Christmas weekend in Paris, the news isn’t all bad. There are still deals to be found, provided you shop carefully and plan ahead. Check out our 10 tips for holiday travel and find some joy this holiday season.

Avoid peak travel dates
At Thanksgiving, Wednesday is the critical outbound “avoid” day as a rule. Traveling on Thanksgiving day proper is often a breeze and more affordable; there are often cut-rate airfare deals on Thanksgiving day.

On the return, Friday morning isn’t bad at all, with each successive day getting a little busier, more difficult and more expensive through Sunday evening. The bottom line: If you are looking for a deal, you won’t find one on the peak travel days. Travel off-peak whenever possible.

Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Thursdays this year, which means that the same advice for Thanksgiving will apply to both of these holidays — fly on the holiday itself if possible, and avoid Sunday evening at the end of the long weekend.

Book early
Haven’t booked your holiday travel yet? It’s time to stop waiting and start booking. Fares are only rising as Thanksgiving approaches, so those who hold out in hopes of a late-breaking sale are likely to get left out in the cold or pay a very steep price for their procrastination. The same goes for the Christmas holiday; book sooner rather than later, particularly if you require very specific travel dates or times. With the current state of the airline industry, it is never too early to book your holiday travel flights.

While many of the best deals are probably already gone, keep an eye on our Holiday Deals section for any last-minute bargains. Be prepared to be flexible with dates and flight times.

Growing a Flower Bed With Beautiful Blooms

If you want your garden to have blooms of beautiful and colorful flowers, you’ll need to plant them carefully. Arrange them properly, and provide adequate care. It is even possible to have flowers blooming year-round, if you plan your garden correctly. You can choose annuals and perennials that bloom at different times of the year so that you’ll always have a colorful garden.

Before you plant the flowers, make sure that the soil is right for them. You should dig your beds down a foot and a half for two deep. While you can grow flowers in a shallower bed, they will not be as likely to thrive. Break up the dirt, making sure there are no large clumps, and spread in some sand, manure, compost, or grass clippings. Don’t pack the bottom dirt down, let it settle naturally so that the roots will be able to penetrate it and it will drain better.

Once you have the base of your flowerbed ready, make sure that you use a good mixture for the topsoil. If you want your plants to be healthy, well-rotted manure and peat moss are excellent additions to your soil. If you do use manure, make sure it doesn’t touch the roots of your plants. You can also add wood ashes in the spring, or use lime to loosen the soil.

Consider the type of soil that you naturally have in your garden, and choose a fertilizer that will help it reach the optimum balance for your plants. The fertilizer you choose should include the elements that your plants aren’t getting from the soil.

When planning the location of your plants within your flower beds and border, keep in mind the color of the blooms, even if the plant is not blooming when you purchase it. Plan for contrast in the texture and color of the flowers, but make sure that the colors will also blend in an attractive manner. For example, the bright color of Zinnias can be balanced with softer colors from chrysanthemum or cosmos.

Don’t forget to consider where you are situating the flower bed. Ideally, it should face south or southwest, but any location that gets enough sun should help your flowers thrive. You should try to plant it close to the house, so that your plants will be protected.

Compare Mortgage Lenders - Making the Right Choice

Before making that big decision to refinance your home or purchase a new one with a good mortgage deal, it is always best to investigate and examine mortgage lending companies, their track record and current financial status. And while the interest rates and payment terms that are being offered are just as important, it is always best to work with mortgage lenders and financial institutions that your can trust and rely on.

Compare mortgage lenders based on the length of time that they have been in the business as well as the number of clients they currently have. Know their track records. Take notice of the banks that they do business with to make sure that they are stable lenders with stable banks to back them up.

Of course, as most people would first consider in choosing their lending companies, compare mortgage lenders based on the deals they offer. Most of the time it is not just good to check out which rates are more competitive.

Do not forget that there may be deals that are too good to be true but will turn out to be nightmares in the end. There are good online resources and mortgage calculators that allow you to compare mortgage deals effectively. Make sure that you avail of deals that are not only reasonable but are well within your financial capability to pay, after you have taken due notice of your regular expenses.

Leftovers Column Is blog a tasty treat or warmedover City Hall hash San Gabriel Valley Tribune

Starting the Leftovers from City Hall blog was kind like of opening a really big suggestion box. You know the kind where you fill out an anonymous form with either accolades or gripes and then drop it into an old wooden box hoping that someone will actually read it. As a result of the blog people leave e mail and phone in comments all the time. Some of them are news tips or tidbits of information we never knew. Others are questions readers would like us to ask. We got a call last week from a Glendora city employee. She said she was calling on behalf of several Tribune readers. The woman who called herself Fran complained the name Leftovers from City Hall left a bad taste in her mouth no pun intended . She said in her day leftovers meant those things on the dinner plate that you didn t want to eat the stuff that gets pushed into a napkin and eventually ends up in the trash or the dog bowl. She argued the blog name implied something similar. Surprisingly Fran didn t comment at! all on the content of the blog but that s because she said doesn t read it. I just can t bring myself to read the blog because I am so offended by the title Fran said. The woman suggested we change the name to Round Ups from City Hall. Cities already get a bad reputation. We don t need a negative title making things worse she said. Reporting is essentially a craft which means we Advertisement have to take a multitude of information and whittle away until we ve constructed the most important inches of text readers need to know. That leaves a lot of leftovers that are relevant funny quirky and notable but just don t make the final cut for print. Instead of packing those leftovers up with the rest of the dingy old notebooks stocked away in our desks we decided to put it out there. Judging from the number of comments we get we know not everyone likes that idea. But again judging from the number of comments we get we know there is a hefty readership out there that enjoys readin! g about all the ins and outs of local government. So maybe the leftovers aren t so bad. We don t know about everyone else but we were always taught to finish everything on our plates. jennifer.mclainsgvn.com tania.chatilasgvn.com Ext. Singled Out Twisterbaitaposs Popstars antiMusicaposs new unofficial theme antiMUSIC

Jealous Haters Since Home News Reviews Day In Rock Photos RockNewsWire Feeds Singled Out Twisterbait s Popstars antiMusic s new unofficial theme song . antiMusic Welcome to Singled Out where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Twisterbait s Popstars is a song and video after our own hearts. So much so we have adopted it as our unofficial theme song We re pleased today to let Twisterbait tell you the tale behind track and hook you up with the hilarious video Here you go Popstars mocks the attention starved insecurity ridden world of manufactured pop culture. It started life as a jerky chord progression on a nylon string acoustic with a ridiculous chorus line that made my friend s kids jump around laughing. It grew verses to repel celebrity dominated news dumbed down advertising soap operas reality TV popstar wannabe talent contests and other such insults to evolution. I remember laughing out loud to myself in a supermarket aisle as one line spra! ng up with a random shopper looking at me like I needed sectioning. The lyrics got fine tuned in spare moments on buses etc and when I was happy with the full arrangement I brought it to the band. Within one rehearsal we had a celebrity punching rock song with kicking drums and abusive bass. It went down a storm at gigs and soon we had a development advance from an investor who was at one of them. By the time we played the Bull and Gate in Islington we had Popstars nailed. It was the best gig we d done and producer Death In Vegas drummer Simon Hanson was in the crowd. Before we knew it we were recording the I Spy EP in his studio with a production deal. I got threatened with a staple gun and attacked with a broom whilst trying to record a lead break to Popstars. I think Simon Hanson had experienced some kind of guitar solo overkill trauma during the eighties. I sometimes came in and found him alone in the studio shouting to himself with his headphones on and figured it migh! t be best to just go with it so my guitar tracks got bent out of shape and all sorts of other electronic therapy took hold. It came out sounding mad. Reviewers and radio stations loved it. Xacca Sounds signed Twisterbait and we carried on recording at Hansonic. I guess Popstars resonates with people whose mental spam filters are overworked by constant barrages of mindless crap from every angle of the media. If that sounds like you behold Electrovee s Popstars video on Youtube and you ll see you re not alone . Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song listen for yourself and learn more about the EP and our new heroes in Twisterbait right here today s news brought to you by Click here to read today s full report Preview and Purchase Twisterbait CDs Twisterbait Tour Dates Tickets Twisterbait MP Downloads tell a friend about this article know of a news item we should cover antiMUSIC News featured on RockNews.info and Yahoo News . .end Writers Wanted . . What you should know about Phentermine 37 5mg

With nearly two-thirds of Americans being overweight, many are looking for ways to lose weight and keep it off. This is where Phentirmine 37.5 mg can help. Phentermine 37.5 mg is an appetite suppressant that is prescribed for use by overweight patients. Now there are many things that can assist in getting you to a healthy weight, but it is essential that you make necessary diet, exercise and behavior medications in order for your weight loss efforts to be successful and permanent.

Phentenermine is no different. It is a weight loss tool and not a miracle. Phentermine works by stimulating the hypothalamus gland and affecting certain neurotransmitters to decrease appetite. This supplement affects the nervous system and will speed up your metabolism. It may cause nervousness and sleeplessness the first few days, but these symptoms should subside within a short number of days. For this reason phentermin is meant to be taken in the morning.

Phenturmine can get you started down the right path, but there are some other things that I feel are essential to weight loss. Smart food choices and exercise go with saying. If these are things you have struggled with all your life, try setting 3 small goals. They can be as simple as exercising one hour per week, decreasing the number of sodas you drink or the number of times you eat out each week.

Accomplishing these small goals will give you a feeling of power and control. This will give you the self esteem to achieve bigger goals. I find journaling and forums to give me motivation. Journaling helps you deal with your emotions and forums will provide you with experience, strength and hope from others that have gone through what you are going through. There is a lot to be gained by what other people have already experienced.

Lottery - Early history

The first signs of a lottery trace back the Han Dynasty between 205 and 187 B.C., where ancient Keno slips were discovered. The lottery has helped finance major governmental projects like the Great Wall of China. From the Chinese “The Book of Songs” (second millennium B.C.) comes a reference to a game of chance as “the drawing of wood”, which in context appears to describe the drawing of lots. From the Celtic era, the Cornish words “teulet pren” translates into “to throw wood” and means “to draw lots”. The Iliad by Homer refers to lots being placed into Agamemon’s helmet to determine who would fight Hector. The first known European lottery occurred during the Roman Empire, and was mainly done as a form of amusement at dinner parties. Each guest would receive a ticket, and prizes would often consist of fancy items such as dinnerware. Every ticket holder would be assured of winning something. This type of lottery however, was no more than the distribution of gifts by wealthy noblemen during the Saturnalian revelries. The earliest records of a lottery offering tickets for sale is the lottery organized by Roman Emperor Augustus Caesar. The funds were for repairs to the City of Rome, and the winners were given prizes in the form of articles of unequal value. The earliest public lottery on record is that which was held in the Dutch town of Sluis in 1434.The first recorded lotteries to offer tickets for sale with prizes in the form of money were held in the Low Countries during the period 1443–1449. Various towns in Flanders (parts of Belgium, Holland, and France), held public lotteries to raise money for town fortifications, and raising money to help the poor. The town records of Ghent, Utrecht, and Bruges, indicate that the lotteries may well be of even greater antiquity. An early record dated May 9,1445 at L’Ecluse, refers to raising funds to build walls and town fortifications, with a lottery of 4,304 tickets and total prize money of 1737 florins.[1] In the seventeenth century it was quite normal in The Netherlands to organize lotteries in order to collect money for the poor. Tickets cost about four guilders and the prizes were paintings (50 to 100 per lottery); some of these the paintings were produced by nowadays famous painters as Jan van Goyen.

The Dutch were the first to shift the lottery to solely money prizes and base prizes on odds (roughly about 1 in 4 tickets winning a prize). The lottery proved to be very popular, and was hailed as a painless form of taxation. In the Netherlands the lottery was used to raise money for e.g. supporting poor people, building dikes, construction of defense works for towns and to buy free sailors from slavery in the Arab countries. The English word lottery stems from the Dutch word loterij, which is derived from the Dutch noun lot meaning fate. The Dutch state owned staatsloterij is the oldest still existing lottery.
