Basters and their "Starter Packs"

Namibia is a multihued nation with different cultures and believes. Every culture has certain character traits that group them together. Most people believe that Ovambo people mostly drive Toyota Hilux Bakkies. The Herero people drive Isuzu Bakkies. Today we're talking about Basters and their starter packs. I think the next thing that going to pop in your mind is '' what is a starter pack?'' Most of us define the starter pack and the Volkswagen Golf which can branch from the Citi Golf to the Velocity Golf, and or the Toyota Conquest or Tazz. What I have just mentioned is a very controversial topic and everyone will have his or her own point of view. Let's take one example Alan Bock was born and raised in Rehoboth. As he grew up his first aim was to have his own car. He wanted a silver Toyota conquest. Interior will be leather seats. Maple color with darker sued. 18'' inch rims, spinners to be exact. Black tinted windows and a massive sound system. This is a Baster's dream car for his partying days. Most youngsters buy it, as it's the most reasonably priced. Everyone that buys the famous 'starter pack' say it's fairly easy to maintain, as the spare parts are cheap to replace; yet most of these cars are second hand models. You'll hear people say that they bought from Jacky who bought it from Alan who bought it from Jason who bought if from Babsie who bought it from Nam Cars over the internet. As the young Basters grow older and become more mature, they realize it's better to have a secondhand model Ford bakkie. This can be a Bantam or the Ranger 1800 and the most famous is the Nissan Champ 1400 Bakkie.

The Ladies of Your Intimate Fantasies

We can name free time a period of time when different people have nothing to do i.e. they don't have to do any work or other kind of activity, so they have their own free time. It also does not consist of the compulsory deeds such as eating or having some sleep. This word comes from Latin and means "to be permitted" or "to be free". This notion appeared in Victorian Epoch in Britain when workers have got their 8-hour working day and had 2 days off per week. Also such notions as compensatory holiday and avocation appeared at that time. There are usually active and passive kinds of leisure for a typical person. Active leisure signifies that persons have active time spending during their free time. It can be soccer, baseball and other competitive games. Playing draughts or painting a picture are also active leisure because these activities need your mental efforts. Going to a movie theatre, watching television etc. are the passive leisure when you simply doing nothing, when your mind and body are relaxed from any exertions. Some persons say that passive free time is senseless and it crosses out all the delights of free time. Nevertheless, passive free time is more preferable among many different persons. Ukrainian escort services offer you to have your free time in the surrounding of beautiful girls. A person always needs a diversity in his feelings and experiences and an erotic pleasure is a marvelous variety in sexual activity. Many people are often scared of the word "prostitute" but it isn't correct. Nowadays this tendency is not so great that several years ago, but still a lot of people dislike prostitutes. But the different opinions of society to prostitution is connected with the dual attitude to sex. From the one hand sex presents you a satisfaction. As a result we may consider sex an average article of trade that one can buy everywhere. And from the other hand, sexual activity that is not related to procreation was always blamed. Different sexual relationships were tabooed at all times and people who did it were usually censured. In the authoritarian regime states were strict censure on sexual activities and prostitution in general. But in the middle of the twentieth century the situation completely altered, especially on the West. Negative relation to this profession has made the name of this business general to different fields of human activity. We can call any political person "a political prostitute" if he is related to corruption. But modern philosophy instructs us to be lenient to everyone and prostitutes are also included in this list. So if you are not scared of this notion call us and we are going to make your relaxation unbelievable.

South Africa: The Ins-and-Outs of the global Economic Crisis

The causes and effects of the US mortgage crisis on world markets is often lost in financial jargon and economic terminology, with many South Africans left wondering whether they are being directly affected by it.

Put plainly, the economic woes in the Unites States began a few years back when banks and other financial institutions - not acting within the confines of good lending practices - extended home loans to almost every person walking through their doors.

No proper credit checks were done on prospective lenders and financial institutions continued lending in the face of a diminishing housing market in which the value of assets began dropping sharply.

Econometrix economist Russell Lamberti explained to BuaNews that when, for example, a bank has $500 million in housing mortgages on its balance sheets, but the value of houses has dropped by 20 percent, the bank can no longer extend as much credit as it did.

“If you have $500 million on your balance sheets as a bank, but the assets have lost 20 percent in value, it needs to be reflected in the books,” he said.

How much a bank lends needs to be proportionate to the value of its assets, Mr Lamberti explained.

With banks over extending credit and debt-burdened Americans struggling to repay their mortgages, the US market plummeted, requiring all major world banks to inject billions of dollars into world markets.

“These banks now either have to recapitalise or recall all their loans,” Mr Lamberti said.

MP3 File Format Facts - Discover Top Advantages of MP3 Files VS Music CD's.

The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage - mp3 files. If you've been thinking you need to know more about it, here's your opportunity.

MPEG (Motion Picture Experts Group) Layer 3 - file type better known under the name of mp3 - was invented in 1991. Mp3 is digital form of compression audio streams that came to life after 15 years of acoustic research.

According to the declaration of engineers from the Fraunhoffer Institute, a pioneer company in the mp3 technology, this system explores the properties of the human ear, trying to maintain the original sound quality, in the boundaries of what is possible. Being so small the mp3 file still has all the perceptible audio details, giving up only those that the human ear cannot hear.

Advantages of MP3 Files:

1) Huge Mp3 File Storing Capacity VS Music CD's.

Mp3 can make an audio file up to 12 times smaller than the original file. This represents a huge advantage the mp3 file format has over music cd's. For example: Five minutes of music on a CD take up about 40 MB, but if they were in mp3 format they could take only 3, 5 MB.

2) The MP3 Format Provides Good Sound Quality.

Although it is not as clear as an audio CD, an mp3 still is an enormous achievement when it comes to sound quality for such a big compression rate.

3) Creating and Distributing a MP3 File is Very Easy.

However, although it is simple to create and distribute mp3 files, this does not mean you have the right to give them to others unless you have the right to do so. It is legal to make a back-up mp3 file out of an audio CD you bought, but it is illegal to give someone copies of those mp3's.

To Sum Up:

In less than 10 months from the launch, mp3 immediately declared itself as the most performing audio format on the web. And it is no wonder: the sound is excellent, mp3 downloads are fast, and the variety of the products available in this format is overwhelming.

And for some, mp3 file downloads are a dream come true, for others the worst nightmare. In the confusion caused by technological revolution, we still cannot afford not to know what is legal and what is not. Recording companies have suffered great losses because of illegal mp3 downloads.

Can Mobile Phones Read Barcodes?

BRUSSELS, Belgium and PRINCETON, New Jersey, September 22, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ — GS1 is the global supply chain standards organisation well-known for its barcodes that feature on millions of products sold in retail. It has membership from over one million companies worldwide, particularly manufacturers and retailers of consumer packaged goods.
GS1 Mobile Com is an industry-wide initiative started by GS1 in June 2007 to investigate the potential of businesses giving consumers access to product information via their mobile phones. Today, GS1 Mobile Com has released a position paper advising businesses to focus on GS1 standard barcodes for mobile applications. The aim is to prevent fragmentation in the current market for reading barcodes with cameraphones. The full position paper is available at http://www.gs1.org/docs/mobile/GS1_Mobile_Com_Barcodes_Position_Paper.pdf .
Vanderlei Roque dos Santos, eBusiness Project Manager for Nestle and co-chair of the GS1 Mobile Com work group, said, “This is a major step forward in simplifying the choices manufacturers have to make to start enabling mobile services via their products. It will drive innovation not only on product packaging but across a number of communication channels that brands use to interact with consumers.”
“Mobile barcodes are one of the ways that retailers can use to improve in-store experience for consumers. Having standards will make implementation easier and faster, across different markets,” commented Olivier Raynal, Innovation Manager for Carrefour.
More and more consumers are equipped with camera phones that are technically capable of reading barcodes. As well as the existing barcodes on products packaging (called 1-dimensional or 1D barcodes), new barcodes specifically designed to be scanned by a camera (called 2-dimensional or 2D barcodes) are now becoming available. As the pictures below show, barcodes can be “scanned” by consumers to access:

- information currently on the pack in a personalized format (allergens,
ingredients, nutrition facts).
- a wide range of information not currently available on packaging
- information that may be currently be handled on paper (such as coupons)

South African President Mbeki to quit

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (CNN) — South African President Thabo Mbeki agreed Saturday to resign, clearing the way for his longtime political rival, Jacob Zuma, to run for the office next spring.
Mbeki has been South African president since 1999.Mbeki plans to meet with his Cabinet on Sunday to discuss his decision, and some Cabinet members might leave in a show of solidarity.

The president made no public comments, and it was unclear when his resignation would take effect.

Gwede Mantashe, secretary-general of the African National Congress, announced at a news conference earlier in the day in Johannesburg that the party — which Mbeki has been involved with since his teens — had asked him to leave before his term was up.

Mantashe said the ANC made the decision “for the citizens of South Africa, so there could be stability within the country” and so the ANC movement could remain “stable and unified.”

“The reaction of President Mbeki to the news, in my own view, was normal. He didn’t display shock or any depression. He welcomed the decision and agreed that he is going to participate in the process and the formalities,” Mantashe said. Video Watch the significance of Mbeki “falling on the sword” for the ANC »

The party’s request to Mbeki came after a judge on September 12 threw out the corruption, fraud and racketeering case against Zuma, calling it invalid and accusing Mbeki’s government of political interference in the case.

The case against Zuma, who is ANC president, was thrown out in September 2006, but the National Prosecuting Authority recharged him. Judge Chris Nicholson made no ruling on Zuma’s guilt or innocence, and he could be recharged.

Political observers doubted that would happen because of Zuma’s popularity with the Communist Party and trade unions.

Zuma has denied the charges. He said the case was politically motivated, and harmed his chances to become the ANC’s presidential nominee.

Zuma had been facing at least 15 years in jail if convicted of accepting bribes from a company that got a contract in a multibillion-dollar arms deal.

He also faced charges of having a corrupt relationship with his former financial adviser, Schabir Shaik, who is serving a 15-year sentence for soliciting bribes for Zuma and using Zuma’s political influence to benefit his businesses.

Mbeki, 66, succeeded Nelson Mandela as president in June 1999. Critics of Mbeki alleged he pushed for the corruption charges against Zuma.

On Monday, Zimbabwe’s political rivals put aside the violent past and signed a power-sharing deal intended to end the crisis that has paralyzed the country since the disputed national elections in March.

Mbeki brokered the deal. Under it, longtime Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe remains president, while his perennial rival, Morgan Tsvangirai, has become prime minister and the coordinator of government.
