Google Microsoft others squeeze out small tenants at Mountain Viewaposs East Bay Business Times

Pear Theater founder and creative director Diane Tasca sits overlooking the stage of her Mountain View theater whose lease will be up in two years. View Larger A cluster of tiny tenants in the Shoreline industrial district of Mountain View is feeling a giant squeeze. On one side search engine Google Inc. continues to expand and buy property along the seaside enclave. Software giant Microsoft Corp. which already leases square feet of Shoreline offices also is expanding. It recently leased another square feet near its existing buildings that abut U.S. Highway and is widely believed to be on the search for more. The twin developments are exerting a vise like grip on a string of small businesses and a tiny theater at Pear Ave. a Shoreline street immediately adjacent to Microsoft. The tenants small industrial building has been acquired by Google which has made clear that it will not renew the leases past . But the Internet giant has not announced what it intends to do with the Pe! ar Avenue property. Google s silence also is leading to speculation. The Pear Avenue building and a similar one next door that Google also has acquired are well removed from Google s Amphitheatre Parkway headquarters. They also are the lone properties the company has acquired in this particular area of Shoreline. This article is for Paid Print Subscribers ONLY. Adult Male Circumcision Reduces HIV Acquisition Risk eMaxHealthcom

Medical circumcision of adult men continues to reduce the risk of acquiring HIV through heterosexual intercourse for at least . years. This finding recently emerged from an analysis of long term follow up data on Kenyan men who have participated in a large clinical trial assessing the protective value of adult male circumcision against HIV infection. Among the Kenyan men who have participated in the study some for as long as . years or . percent have acquired HIV while uncircumcised and only or . percent have acquired HIV after circumcision. Nearly of the study participants are now circumcised. It is estimated from the study data that circumcision reduces a man s risk of acquiring HIV by percent. The investigators will present these data on August at the XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City. The Kenyan study is a follow up component of one of two clinical trials sponsored by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases NIAID part of the National Ins! titutes of Health NIH that were stopped in December before their scheduled completion because of the overwhelming evidence that medically supervised circumcision can reduce a man s risk of acquiring HIV through heterosexual intercourse. The trial in Kisumu Kenya of HIV negative men showed a percent reduction in HIV acquisition among circumcised men compared to uncircumcised men while a study of HIV negative men in Rakai Uganda demonstrated a percent reduction in HIV acquisition among circumcised men. NIAID is co sponsoring the follow up Kenyan study in connection with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. In response to the results of these studies and an earlier randomized trial conducted in Orange Farm South Africa the World Health Organization recommended in that male circumcision be recognized as an additional important intervention to reduce the risk of heterosexually acquired HIV infection in men. Intel and JaJah provide remote access VoIP calls

Intel has partnered with Jajah to enable VoIP calls on PCs in sleep mode using Intel s Remote Wake technology. Remote Wake is a new feature incorporated into Intel s latest motherboard and expected to appear in newly shipping desktop computers over the next few weeks. The technology allows applications and users to remotely wake up a computer in an energy conserving sleep state so a PC could be powered down and wake up to accept an inbound VoIP call. Any USB enabled connected handset could receive VoIP calls while a PC is in sleep mode. Jajah funded by Intel Capital is supplying an initial VoIP software stack it will be incorporated into certain PCs so users don t have to download software to make VoIP calls. However Intel points out that Remote Wake is open and there s a SDK that can be tapped into by other VoIP developers. A variety of applications are being written to tap into Remote Wake. Other announced applications tapping into it include online content services for do! wnloading music voice and video during off peak hours. Remote backup and security updates are also potential uses. Have you given up on losing weight

Have you given up on losing weight I used to wince every time I saw my fat belly . Then I stumbled across the proven way of making my tummy ring smaller. I had experimented with diet capsules a few times. Not to fear I quickly understood that it wasn t necessarily the best way to lose body fat especially from the belly zone. Making tiny adjustments to my diet was the trick to eliminating the extra pounds and winning back my lovely figure. There are so many women who struggle fiercely to get rid of their belly flab. The reason for that is we are misinformed about how to lose stomach fat fast . Most people I know either resort to extremes in order to reduce their body fat or eat the wrong types or amounts of foods believing it will do the trick. If not that we ll go to the gym everyday but forget about altering our fat intake. After you uncover how to efficiently lose belly fat you ll be amazed at how natural and easy getting a sleaker figure really is. The reason I sported ap! parel from Ohio State Also see Shedding those pounds there is hope after all Leave a Reply Name required Mail will not be published required Website XHTML You can use these tags Please add and RSS Feed ebohemians

Forex merchandiser software is becoming very commonly used by millions of people all over the world.

The first thing you should make sure it has is a reasonable price. I would not pay anything over $150 for forex trader software of any kind-hearted. I think around $100 is what you should aim for. I have heard of products that charge hundreds of dollars per month just for their service! Earnings can be very height with forex trading, but that is a lot of money to pay.

The second thing that I can tell you to check out, as an experienced trader, is narcotic addict testimonials. Scroll through the product page and make sure that people are posting positive reviews of the salesperson software. If people are happy with it, you can feel comfortable that you are getting a quality product.

Loyalty you just cant buy

Loyalty you just cant buy article written by TW . What must be the corporate Holy Grail is having a customer base so loyal to your product that it doesn t matter what you do to them they will just suck it up keep paying you and ask for more. Before the Internet I am not sure I ever encountered any examples of this loyalty I am not even sure it existed. As with much of life the Internet changed everything. We consumers are often subjected to watchdog type programs saying we should stand up and complain about bad service more and I agree. For too long people have sat in quiet anger while companies have taken advantage of them. With this in mind it is ironic how some internet companies for want of a better word have managed to develop an almost slavish fan base who will defend them from even the slightest criticism. Take Flickr as an example . Today it is having some massive database problems. It has been playing up for at least the last three hours maybe longer. This is not th! e first time it has happened and every few weeks it has has a few little hiccups. For most people on free accounts this is just something you would expect to live with you get what you pay for some might argue not me but that is another rant . However for people who have paid US per year for a pro account things are I think quite different. The amount of money paid is not the issue. The fact is Flickr have taken a payment for a service. If they are unable to provide that service then they should be held accountable in the same manner as if it was a US a year account. For some people in the world US is a monstrous amount of money so there is no argument to say it is cheap so we should expect a poor service. Now in the flickr help thread there is quite a mixed bag of comments and hundreds of them . Basically though they fall into some clearly defined camps People who are outraged and annoyed with flickr for failing to provide them with a service they have paid for. People who! for whatever reason feel the need to defend flickr no matter what. There are some people who appear neutral but they generally make comments that fall into the latter camp such as Get a life aimed at complaining comments . And learn that in that life nothing is perfect. Suck it up and be patient. link What a day for this to happen The day after I signed up but I must add to the chorus saying Thank you Kevin for letting us know what s going on there are many many sites out there who would simply leave their users in the dark. link No problem Sir. Thanks for informing us. fail in the system is very normal because it is created and made by man. very human. Dont worry. Thank you. and take your time link These are not neutral posts the are basically people who are happy with bad service. I am all for having some tolerance over problems but tolerance is not the same as cheerful acceptance. Take your time was too annoying for words. The idea that flickr is great simply because other people wouldn t tell anyone is nonsense as well. On the side of the! slavish Flickr Fans there is one commenter who really stood out SF Lights. This person has made dozens of posts basically flaming anyone who complains about the service and then when people make the inevitable threat to go elsewhere he points out there is no where else to go. Some examples Guide a commenter you can feel free to leave and go to a more mediocre photo sharing website. link Seriously learn your facts before posting ignorant crap here. link Byebye Panos Be sure to upload a video on whichever other great photosharing website you.oh wait there aren t any. link He really does come across as annoying. One commenter Panos seems to think SF LIghts is flickr staff and I have to say I agree It is weird to think of a paying customer making authoritative comments like this. All in all you have to read the thread to get a full feel for how much the flickr supporters are willing to bend over for this. The idea that their wonderful flickr could ever be at fault seems alien ! to them. The idea that you should be able to expect a service you have paid for to be fit for purpose seems alien to them. Just to finish I actually think this is a trivial fault it takes about two minutes longer to upload pictures and sometimes you have to refresh a few times to get a page. However imagine you were in a restaurant and had to order each item of food three of four times. Would you complain Would you say it was the best restaurant ever Popularity Sphere Related Content Cameras and Security One Response to Loyalty you just cant buy TW wrote This is a commenter after my own heart I don t think it matters what you pay and I don t think it is an issue of perspective. Frankly I m not terribly bothered by this anyway as I have nothing to upload etc. Nonetheless it still bothers me how frequent the problems are becoming on flickr. But what bothers me more is that there are always ass kissers here who chime in and say great work and thank you can I have another and those people degrade the quality of service that we receive because they! let flickr off the hook too easily. I m not really saying there is much else we can do but to thank them just seems to be backwards to me. I fully agree. Sadly this response was predictable Don t you have better things to do than complaining I was not happy with the problems either but do I cry I admit I don t pay for flickr to work this might be why I see this differently. But just be a bit more relaxed next time. I hope the problems will be fixed in my next break from work.
